Get inspired by Lyonia’s native landscape! In this class, we’ll embark on a short, guided walk to take in the character of this special landscape. Using our various senses, we will discuss the color, light, form, and mood around us. We will create quick sketches or take photos and discuss how to translate these ideas onto the canvas. After returning to the classroom, participants can paint a traditional landscape or create a more abstract or symbolic piece. Emphasis will be placed on having a curious and playful approach and the importance of trusting the process and less on the final product. Some participants may finish their painting, while others may find that their pieces are a springboard for future art making. Open to all levels and beginner friendly. Canvas and painting supplies will be provided, but feel free to bring any favorite supplies you may already have such as a sketchbook, color pencils, water-based media, brushes etc. Dira De la Rosa, LMFT holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts, as well as a master’s degree as a licensed therapist, and is passionate about native landscapes and using art as a tool for healing and reconnection to nature.
