With every essay you feel seen, heard, and understood. Midlife Private Parts is a must read for all women!” — Tamsen Fadal, filmmaker, The (M) Factor, and author of How To Menopause One of Zibby's Most Anticipated Books of 2025 Midlife Private Parts is a soulful and revealing collection of essays that explore the many facets of this transformative time in life. Each story sheds light, with humanity and good humor, on what it really feels like to move through the world as a midlife woman and beyond. Whether it’s sexual pleasure, midlife reinvention, menopause, friendship, redefining style at a certain age, dating after divorce, feeling invisible, or simply being in the last place you ever thought you’d be, you’ll feel seen in these essays that acknowledge the changes and challenges but capture the power, freedom and confidence that comes with age. Told through the eyes of contemporary women writers, authors, and creatives, each shares a story of coming to terms with aging and confronting the unexpected moments that define midlife. In their candid personal narratives, you will find connection, validation, promise, and inspiration. If you are craving community, Midlife Private Parts will be akin to a safe haven where you will feel seen, heard, and understood. A place where women are empowered to age boldly and unapologetically. ABOUT THE PARTICIPANTS: Dina Alvarez started her writing career as a freelancer for Big Apple Parent in New York City covering education, local politics, and lifestyle. She later co-founded SomosPadres, the first and only bilingual parenting publication for Hispanic families in New York City. Dina continues to write in her spare time with a focus on creative nonfiction pieces. She is an avid reader and lover of anthologies, particularly those that tell women’s stories. Dina is the mother of two adult sons and a native New Yorker. She continues to call the city home where she lives with her husband. Dina Aronson is passionate about shining a light on midlife women and reframing the cultural conversation around aging. She began her career as an attorney, later founding a legal search firm, but pivoted as she approached midlife and couldn’t find relevant content that reflected her experience. She began freelancing for start-ups aimed at the forty-plus woman, and founded the Patina blog, now a Substack newsletter called Patina with Dina Aronson, where she explores topics in and around aging through her midlife lens. She has two grown stepsons, and currently resides between New York City and Miami with her husband. Marian Adams was born in 1964 and is one of six children. She grew up in a large Irish family on Long Island, never far from any of her fifty-six first cousins. She received a Master of Fine Arts from Saint Michaels’ College in 1986 and worked in Public Relations post college in New York City. She loves books, movies, cooking, and the ocean. Marian married her childhood sweetheart, a United States Marine, in 1989. They settled on Long Island with their three children after several years on the West Coast. Marian is honored and grateful to share her story in the hope that it will empower women to advocate when it comes to their health. Her wish is that all women will be better equipped than she was to navigate the many challenging medical issues they may face in midlife. Rachel Solomon is an author, writer and Creative Director/Founder of Honor Code Creative, a marketing/branding agency grounded in powerful emotional storytelling. Formerly the fashion/beauty editor of BostonNow and Stuffy Columnist for Stuff Magazine, her work has been published in the Harvard AIDS Review, the Boston Globe, and InStyle among others. She is the winner of the Improper Bostonian’s short story prize, and her fiction has appeared in all three Fenway Fiction anthologies. Her novel Number Six Fumbles was published by Simon & Schuster/MTV Books, and her piece “The End of an Era” from the Pennsylvania Gazette was optioned as a screenplay. As “Hey Mrs. Solomon,” Rachel writes a widely read Substack newsletter about style for women over 40 (she calls this time period “arriving”), publishes a style diary on Instagram @heymrssolomon and also advises women on finding their style DNA at hermrssolomon.com. She lives in Miami with her husband, three cats, and a guest room turned closet. They have a beloved son who lives in New England where they spend summers.
