Let’s grow our green thumbs with vegetable gardening! Edible gardening is a great way to enjoy the outdoors, engage your senses, and add more variety to both your outdoor spaces and your plate. We’ll stroll through our demonstration garden to see vegetables growing in different ways and talk through the pros and cons of different methods. Along the way, we’ll cover key topics like site considerations, soil, seasons, and which plants may be worth growing. We’ll also share free, reliable resources to support you as you keep learning. This class offers a broad, beginner-friendly overview of growing vegetables and herbs in Florida. While not every tip will apply to every garden, the focus is on practical ideas to help you choose an approach that fits your space, time, and goals. It’s especially helpful for new gardeners, those who’ve struggled in the past, or anyone looking to refresh their approach and get unstuck. The class will include time both indoors and outdoors on varied materials like pavement, grass, and mulch. Some standing time outdoors though there is some limited seating nearby. Please wear comfortable, sturdy shoes and dress for variable Florida winter weather. Restrooms and a water fountain will be available; no food or drink will be provided, so bring your own cup if desired. Content is geared to adult learners.
