The bar crawl platform

Host a bar crawl that actually runs on time

Jambo gives bar crawl organizers per-venue drink tickets, bundled ticket purchases, automated crowd messaging, and a promoter network, all in one platform. Built by people who've run bar crawls, for people who run bar crawls.

Free for organizers. Service fees apply to ticket sales.

Built by bar crawl organizers, in production with real crawls

Most ticketing platforms treat a bar crawl like a single event at a single venue. It isn't. It's a moving party with multiple checkpoints, staggered timing, drink-per-bar tracking, and a different scanner at every stop. Jambo has hosted multiple successful bar crawls on the platform, and we built generalized features to fill every gap we ran into, so the next organizer doesn't have to.

Move the whole crowd on schedule with automated messaging

A bar crawl lives and dies by timing. Jambo lets you schedule push notifications and SMS in advance so the crowd gets a nudge the moment it's time to leave for the next bar. No scrambling, no hoarse voices, no stragglers stuck at bar three while you're at bar five.

  • Schedule the entire night of "head to the next stop" messages before doors open
  • Send a heads-up to the next venue's scanner staff that the crowd is en route
  • Edit, duplicate, or reschedule on the fly if the night runs long
  • Push notifications and SMS, no relying on people checking email or social feeds

Drink tickets that only work at the right bar

Configure tickets that can only be scanned at a specific venue. That means you can do one drink per bar, per attendee. The ticket scans at Bar A and Bar A only. No more paper wristbands, no honor system, no arguments at the door.

  • Per-venue ticket scoping prevents double-dipping at the same bar
  • Each bar gets its own scanner that only accepts the tickets meant for it
  • Scan from any phone, with no extra hardware to lend out to participating venues
  • Each scan is logged so you can settle drink counts with venues afterward

One ticket purchase, all the drinks included

Bonus tickets let you sell a single "Bar Crawl" ticket that automatically grants the buyer any number of additional tickets, like one drink ticket for each stop on the crawl, without those drink tickets ever being for sale individually.

  • Sell one bundle, deliver five (or ten, or twenty) separate scannable tickets to each buyer
  • Bonus tickets are venue-scoped, so each one only redeems at the bar it's meant for
  • Run different bundles for different tiers: VIP gets six drinks, GA gets four
  • No spreadsheets, no manual ticket emailing, no 'show this text to the bartender'

Every bar gets paid automatically when a ticket sells

Pay splits divide ticket revenue across multiple organizations automatically, at any percentage or fixed amount you configure. So the moment someone buys a bar crawl ticket, each participating bar's share is already on its way to their bank account. No spreadsheets, no end-of-night reconciliation, no chasing invoices the following week.

  • Split revenue across any number of participating venues, by percent or by flat amount per ticket
  • Each venue connects their own bank account; Jambo pays them directly via Stripe
  • Mix in a charity, a sponsor, or a co-organizer in the same split with no extra work
  • Settlement happens at sale time, not at the end of the night. Venues love this

Run multiple crowds at once without notification chaos

When you've got hundreds of people, jamming everyone into one bar at the same time wastes the night. Jambo lets you split attendees into separate groups by ticket type and message each group on its own schedule, so Group A is at Bar 1 while Group B is at Bar 3, and each only gets the messages relevant to them.

  • Per-ticket-type message scheduling, so Group A's notifications never reach Group B
  • Stagger start times and routes to keep venues at healthy capacity all night
  • Push consistent traffic to every participating bar instead of overloading one and starving others
  • Maximize total headcount without overcrowding any single stop

Built-in promoter network to fill the route

Set a per-ticket commission and your bar crawl shows up in Jambo's promoter marketplace. Local promoters, students, even the bartenders working the route can pick it up, share their unique link, and start selling for you, paid out weekly to their debit card.

  • Bartenders at participating venues can promote and earn; they're already invested in turnout
  • Promoters get unique tracking links, you see sales per promoter in real time
  • No contracts, no 1099s, no payroll headaches on your end. Jambo handles it
  • You set the commission per ticket tier; Jambo manages the payouts

Two kinds of scanners, no hardware required

Jambo gives you two ways to staff the door. Venue scanners are set up by each participating bar for their own location and can only scan the drink tickets meant for that venue. Host scanners are set up by you, the bar crawl creator, and can scan any ticket for any of your events. That means each bar handles its own checkpoint without you babysitting the roster, while your own crew can move with the crowd and scan anything anywhere.

  • Venue scanner: set up by the bar for their location, can only scan that venue's drink tickets
  • Host scanner: set up by the bar crawl creator, can scan any ticket across any of their events
  • Each bar manages their own scanner roster, so you skip the setup work at every stop
  • Any phone works as a checkpoint, with no leased hardware or extra apps
  • Issue comp tickets directly to staff, sponsors, or fix-it-on-the-fly situations
  • Refund individual tickets without unwinding the whole order

Bar crawl questions, answered

Is Jambo actually built for bar crawls, or is it a general event platform?+

Both. Jambo is a full event ticketing platform, but several of its features were built specifically because we've hosted multiple successful bar crawls on the platform and ran into the gaps ourselves. Venue-scoped tickets, per-ticket-type message scheduling, and bonus tickets are all features that came out of running real bar crawls and noticing what was missing from existing tools.

How does the "one drink per bar" ticket setup actually work?+

You create a ticket pool for each participating venue (e.g. "Bar 1 Drink," "Bar 2 Drink"), and each pool is scoped to that venue's scanner. Then you bundle them into the main bar crawl ticket using bonus tickets, so anyone who buys the crawl ticket automatically receives one drink ticket per bar, with each only redeemable at the bar it's meant for.

Can I run multiple groups doing different routes at the same event?+

Yes. Create a separate ticket type for each group (e.g. "Crawl A," "Crawl B"). Each group has its own scheduled messages, so Group A gets notified to head to their next stop while Group B is following a different route. The crowds stay separated but the event runs as one.

How do the participating bars get notified when the crowd is coming?+

You can target messages at scanner staff specifically, not just attendees. Schedule a "crowd is on the way" push to each venue's scanner before the group arrives. They can prep, staff up, and have drinks ready.

What does it cost to host a bar crawl on Jambo?+

Free for organizers. There's no monthly subscription. Jambo charges a service fee on each ticket sold (5% + $1.79), which is typically passed to the buyer. See the pricing page for full details.

How does the venue get paid for the drinks they pour?+

You have two tools. Use pay splits to send each participating bar a share of every ticket sold, by percent or by flat amount, paid out automatically to their connected bank account. Or, because each venue's drink tickets are scanned and logged separately, you can settle drink counts with each bar after the night based on what was actually redeemed. Most organizers use a mix of both.

Do attendees need to download an app?+

Attendees get a digital ticket with a QR code that works from the app or from their browser. The app gives them push notifications and the social feed; the web ticket is enough to scan in at each stop if they don't want to download anything.
