The Art of the Slow Stitch: A Fabric Collage Workshop

A slow stitching workshop creating a framed fabric collage with boro-inspired techniques, French knots, and couching stitches

Escape the rush and rediscover the joy of making with your hands. This workshop invites you to embrace "slow stitching"—a meditative process that prioritizes the journey of creation over the speed of the result. Under expert guidance, you will curate a unique fabric collage panel, experimenting with texture, color, and tactile manipulation. Whether you are a lifelong maker or picking up a needle for the first time, you will leave with a beautifully framed piece of textile art ready to hang. Key Techniques Covered: * Boro-Inspired Stitching: The Japanese art of functional beauty and visible repair. * French Knots: Adding dimensional texture to your work. * Couching Stitches: A versatile method for securing decorative threads and yarns. Location: FAVO Art Village Studio 238 To reach the studio, turn north on Highland Avenue from Colonial Drive, and enter the parking lot (second driveway on the left). There is a sign that says "Park Lake Presbyterian Church Parking, FAVO Art Studios". When you enter the parking lot turn right and then left at the rear of the lot, continue through the driveway connecting to a second parking lot. FAVO building is the L-shaped two story building. Class is upstairs at studio 238. Mirjana's fiber art and jewelry creations had been published in numerous issues of: Belle Armoire Jewelry, Belle Armoire, Sew Somerset, and Somerset Studio Gallery Magazines. Class is limited to 6 attendees.
