In celebration of Juneteenth, join us for a matinee screening of The Great Debaters on Wednesday, June 17th at 12 PM, located at Aloma Cinema Grill (2155 Aloma Ave, Winter Park). Poet and professor Melvin B. Tolson taught at the predominantly black Wiley College in Texas in 1935. He decides to start a debate team, something nearly unheard of at a black college. He forms a team of strong-minded, intelligent young students, and they become the first black debate team to challenge Harvard's prestigious debate champions. Please note: This movie is exclusively for seniors (55 years and older). Anyone below that age will not be granted entry to this movie. A brief presentation on “The Latest in Clinical Research” will be given at the start of the event. Doors open 30 minutes before the movie's start time. Entry will not be granted once the presentation begins.
