SOAP BOX SESSION WITH MEDIA SYSTEMS Come join us for an exciting in-person Soap Box Session. Designing for Tech: Planning Smart Home Infrastructure. This will be a quick, 1 hour in and out. Eat while you learn to save some time. Although, feel free to stay after for more questions and demonstrations. CEU credits are ASID, AIA, and IDCEC. This class will explain the importance of early technology planning in residential projects to ensure occupant safety, comfort, and long-term system reliability. Participants will identify health, safety, and welfare (HSW) considerations in the design and integration of home technology systems, including media, lighting, security, networking, and automation. The course will apply best practices for system infrastructure and installation to minimize risks such as overheating, electrical interference, and improper device placement, while also coordinating effectively with architects, designers, and subcontractors to ensure technology enhances safety and occupant wellbeing. Participants will also outline strategies for ongoing system maintenance and upgrades to preserve safety, security, and performance for the life of the home.
