We'll be focusing on Snakes and Insects, Leaves and Flowers, but you are free to paint whatever you please! Bring your ideas! We'll be using the slab and slump method, and using a speckled buff clay with lots of grog that gives our finished plates a rustic intuitive beauty, perfect as a background for our drawings in colored clay slips. I'll be firing your pieces for you, first to bisque temperature, and applying a clear matte glaze, and then to mid-fire Cone 6 - so the earthiness remains rather than an overly shiny beginner feel. Yet This project is perfect for beginners to Clay and those with experience. Once your pieces are fired, they'll be available for you to pick up in 2-3 weeks. Do you have drawing anxiety? No problem! ( I do too sometimes!). I'll have a variety of handmade templates you can trace to get you started on a design, and then let your own ideas riff on that start. Sometimes the 'blank canvas' gets in our way...so this helps! You'll be able to make 1-3 plates, depending on size and complexity that you choose! GREAT FOR BEGINNERS TO CLAY!
