This Hit Me Up event is open to the public, 21+. About the Class In this class, students will learn sequences with multiple transitions in close proximity to the floor. Explorations will include in-air body handling, active vs passive movement, in-rope decision making, and intentional pacing to create fluid, expressive pathways between shapes. Emphasis will be placed on creative expression, aesthetic choice-making, sustainability, clear communication, and play. Students will leave with adaptable frameworks they can integrate into their own tying style—whether or not full suspension is part of their regular practice. About Your Facilitator In March of 2018 Sydona found her way into the NYC kink scene and has since immersed herself into honing her rope practice, perhaps obsessively. She currently works full time as a nightlife performer, bondage artist, and creator. Previous to 2020, Syd trained and worked as a professional modern and contemporary dancer, and is proud of the way she melds her thirteen odd years of experience as a movement artist into her current practice. She considers her style of tying to be sensual, flirty, and delightfully sadistic. In these past several years she's traveled both within the U.S. and internationally for rope opportunities, as a performer, as a student, and as an educator. Sydona has completed over forty hours of private instruction from Milan-based Fede Kirigami and Marta Tenshiko, and has attended many advanced level Shibari intensives worldwide. She's worked alongside Hajime Kinoko for his web-style performances in each of his US tours since 2020, and in February of 2026 she's been invited to study closely with Naka Akira and Norio Sugiura in Tokyo. As an educator and performer, Syd has shared her work both within the US and internationally, most notably Devil Mask Studio (LA), Kor Berlin, and Anatomie Studio London. She currently serves as a resident educator and facilitator at Temple New York and Hit Me Up, and regularly facilitates, teaches, and performs at many events and venues in NYC and beyond.
