A Free Event! Celebrating 160 Years! Antioch MBC and Archaeology Now, will highlight "A Legacy of Resilience." Discover the history and legacy of Houston's oldest African American Baptist Church, founded in 1866 and other Afrocentric houses of worship in a conversation, discussing the "Architectural Construction of the Reconstruction Period", that will take place amongst Pastor Lou McElroy and Christopher S. Hunter PhD., Director of Professional Programs-Department of Architecture, Texas A&M. Jackie McElroy, wife of Pastor Lou McElroy and the great-great-grand daughter of Rev. Jack Yates, who rose from slavery to be elected as Antioch's first Pastor will provide the introduction. Reception following the event.
