Neal & Nettie's Community Garden Volunteer Day

Join Neal & Nettie’s Grocery for a morning of showing up, getting our hands in the soil, and growing something together. This volunteer day is part of what we call ComeUnity—spaces where people come together to grow food, learn, and care for the land and each other. We’ll be gathering at the Julia C. Hester House community garden, alongside the Hester House Senior Garden Club, to support the work already happening there. Whether you’ve been gardening for years or this is your first time, you’re welcome here. There’s no pressure to be an expert. Just come ready to be part of something. We’ll be planting, cleaning up beds, harvesting, and doing whatever the garden needs that day. You’re free to come and go between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM—stay for a little or stay the whole time. If you’ve been wanting to get outside, connect with community, or learn more about growing your own food, this is a good place to start.
