James Hall and Shaina LaRoche: Tribute to Jobim

A free tribute concert honoring bossa nova legend Antonio Carlos Jobim with jazz vocals and piano

James Hall and Shaina LaRoche return to the Live Oak Center on Friday, July 24th to pay tribute to bossa nova composer and legend Antonio Carlos Jobim. He wrote the most famous Brazilian songs of all time including "Girl from Ipanema", "Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars", and "One Note Samba". The quartet - including LaRoche, Hall, Charlie Silva, and Greg Parnell - will perform a setlist of all of Jobim's works with lyrics in both English and Portuguese. There's no admission charge, and doors open at 6:45 PM. Shaina LaRoche is a jazz vocalist based in Kissimmee, Florida. A graduate of Rollins College with a degree in Music, she can sing in English, Portuguese, Spanish, and other languages. She has performed at the Live Oak Center before for the annual Christmas concert in 2025, the New Smyrna Beach Jazz Festival in 2025 and 2026, and at the Live Oak Center in February of 2026. James Hall is a pianist, vibraphone player, and composer based in New Smyrna Beach. In his hometown of Pleasanton, California, he performed with numerous jazz musicians including Matt Finders, Andrew Speight, Anton Schwartz, Michael Marcus, Roger Glenn, and Erik Jekabson. Upon moving to Florida in 2019, he has performed with a wide range of jazz musicians including Antonio Escapa, Jeff Rupert, Scott Dickinson, the Orlando Jazz Orchestra, Tom Dietz, and Bobby Koelble, just to name a few, in the straight-ahead jazz and Latin spheres.
