SUMMARY This 60-minute session is structured as a presenter-led talk with dedicated time for expert sharing, followed by a focused discussion on the distinct and complementary roles of occupational therapy and physical therapy in pelvic health rehabilitation, and concludes with open audience Q&A. The presentation will examine postpartum rehabilitation as an important yet underutilized component of maternal healthcare, emphasizing the inpatient postpartum period as a critical opportunity for early intervention. Participants will be introduced to current evidence related to early acute care postpartum rehabilitation, including considerations related to pelvic floor muscle function, pain, mobility, functional recovery, and differences in rehabilitation needs following cesarean versus vaginal delivery. Through expert sharing using a clinical pathway lens, the session will highlight how rehabilitation services can be designed to support continuity of care from inpatient hospitalization through transitional care, telehealth, and outpatient rehabilitation. The presentation will also explore the unique and collaborative contributions of OT and PT in addressing pelvic health needs across the maternal care continuum, while offering practical insights for clinicians and administrators seeking to build or strengthen postpartum rehabilitation programming.
