Austin Poetry Slam Last Sundays Writing Workshop

A free interactive workshop to help writers overcome writer's block with guided exercises and prompts

If you’ve been staring at a blank page a little too long… this one’s for you. Austin Poetry Slam is bringing back our Last Sundays series with a FREE Writing Workshop, and this time we’re digging into something every writer knows too well: getting stuck. Part 2: How to Unlearn Writer’s Block is all about breaking out of your own head, shaking off the pressure to be perfect, and getting back to writing something real. Facilitated by Mr. Dave, this workshop is built to be interactive, practical, and actually useful. Expect guided exercises, prompts that push you in new directions, and space to explore your voice without judgment. Whether you’re a seasoned poet, brand new to writing, or somewhere in between, this is a room where you can experiment, loosen up, and leave with something on the page. No pressure to perform. No expectations to be “good.” Just show up ready to write. Come early, grab a drink or some food from the full Alamo menu, and settle in. Parking is validated. Bring a notebook, your phone, or whatever you like to write on. Or just bring yourself. We’ll help with the rest. Free to attend. Just RSVP and pull up.
