Connecting with Creatures of the Night: Participatory Science Event

Engage in a nighttime bioblitz documenting local wildlife using iNaturalist, no experience needed

Connecting with Conservation Weekends (CwC) introduces guests to TNC conservation priorities with a free monthly activity. This month’s tour focuses on Participatory Science. We will be hosting a night time bioblitz as part of the City Nature Challenge in Polk County. Guests will be encouraged to document their finding using iNaturalist. No previous experience is necessary to attend this event. Please Consider: * All guests will be required to sign a waiver onsite * All youth (ages 12-17) must be accompanied by a legal guardian * Dress Code: Guests should wear bug protective clothing. Closed toed shoes and long pants are recommended. * Parking: free onsite at office (1 ADA van accessible) * Restroom: 2 non-gendered (1 ADA compliant) at office Guests must use restroom prior to boarding buggy * Water: Cooler for water refills provided * Greenlight and blacklight flashlights and bug spray available for use * Participation will involve maneuvering in sandy soil and uneven terrain with little visiability.
