Whether you're a budding entrepreneur or want to grow your business, this series presents essential business topics, provides a forum for networking, and promotes success in today’s dynamic business environment. Participants may attend one, two, six, or all sessions. Session 7 – Fair Labor Standards Act Owning a small business entails many responsibilities, including compliance with federal labor and employment laws. As a business owner and employer, you are responsible for adhering to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), which includes paying employees properly, maintaining certain records, understanding overtime provisions, providing eligible workers with unpaid family or medical leave, and notifying employees of their rights in the workplace. This session, presented by the U.S. Department of Labor-Wage and Hour Division, will provide participants with information on the importance of complying with regulations covered under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
